2020 National Cybersecurity Awareness Week Campus Day: Liaoning Province Educational Campaign

The 2020 National Cybersecurity Awareness Week, held from September 14 to 20 across China, was centered on the theme "Cybersecurity for the People, Cybersecurity by the People." As part of this national initiative, the Campus Day on September 15 was led by the Ministry of Education and aimed to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and skills among students. The Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Education Working Committee and the Education Department of Liaoning Province coordinated extensive educational activities across schools at all levels throughout the province.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, most activities were conducted online or through a blended approach combining online and offline methods. Schools organized students to watch the "Gathering Youth Energy, Safeguarding Security" online public class, take part in the National College Student Cybersecurity Knowledge Contest, and engage in educational games designed to teach safe online practices. Many institutions also invited cybersecurity experts to deliver live lectures, held themed class meetings, created informational handouts, and displayed promotional materials on campus.

The content covered a wide range of practical topics, including personal information protection, identification and prevention of online fraud, and strategies to avoid cyberbullying. By integrating these subjects into everyday learning scenarios, students developed critical skills to recognize and respond to various online threats. The campaign reached higher education institutions, vocational schools, and primary and secondary schools, ensuring broad and inclusive coverage across the province's education system.

Education authorities in Liaoning emphasized that cybersecurity education should be a regular component of school curricula, not just a one-time event. The annual Awareness Week helps foster a safe, healthy, and civilized campus network environment, encouraging students to become responsible digital citizens. Through these sustained efforts, the province aims to build a strong foundation for cybersecurity awareness among young people, contributing to a more secure cyberspace for all.
